As of March 13, seven states and Washington, D.C, have ordered all schools to close to help contain the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). While virus containment and contagion mitigation is crucial while we navigate these unprecedented circumstances, the reality of schools closing for the next several weeks—if not months—is that children who are dependent on their schools for morning, afternoon, and even weekend and evening meals may suffer until our lives and routines return to normal.
Also, many families with kids don’t have the financial means to stock up on the essentials during these difficult times. I am lucky enough to do so—as I know that so are many of our supporters and partners.
Fortunately, we all can help.
NCGH is reaching out to our partner and local schools, churches, and community organizations to ask how we can support their hunger efforts at this time. If your school or organization needs help, contact us, and we will do our best to offer support.
If you are among the many concerned community members wondering what you can do to help your neighbors during this time, please consider making a financial donation to No Child Goes Hungry. Every dollar will support hunger advocacy efforts.
Let’s feed some kids!
Because We’re All In This Together,
Kären
