No Child Goes Hungry (NCGH) is pleased to provide a $700 donation to The Chelsea Community Fridge & Cupboard, a grassroots organization dedicated to nourishing its community. The Chelsea Community Fridge & Cupboard is located in Manhattan, New York. It maintains a community-run food cupboard operating on a take-what-you-need, leave-what-you-can basis. The grant will help cover the costs of kid-friendly food to pack its newly opened community refrigerator, which complements its popular food pantry.
NCGH’s donation to The Chelsea Community Fridge & Cupboard represents its first in Manhattan.
“Every time we’re able to stretch our goodwill into a new state, or a new region, I feel overjoyed with gratitude to our donors and the miracle workers who are feeding children across the country,” said NCGH Founder and Director Kären Rasmussen. “We are proud to add The Chelsea Community Fridge & Cupboard to our network of partner organizations and are thrilled to support their hunger relief efforts.”
According to Lea Rose, a representative from The Chelsea Community Fridge & Cupboard, the need for hunger relief in their Manhattan community is immense, especially now.
“Our cupboard is in a high-traffic area of Manhattan, and we’ve been getting a high demand for children-specific food like applesauce, fruit pouches, baby food, and baby formula,” said Rose.” This donation from No Child Goes Hungry will allow us to purchase more of these items for our new fridge, which we know will continue to be sought by parents struggling to make ends meet and provide their children with nutritious food. We are so grateful for this support and donation.”
The Chelsea Community Fridge & Cupboard is located at 55 West 15th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue in Manhattan.
