No Child Goes Hungry (NCGH) is proud to support Feeding Our Communities Partners (FOCP) in launching a new Little Free Pantry (LFP) in North Mankato, Minnesota. This community-driven initiative provides non-perishable food and essential items to anyone in need, with a focus on reducing youth food insecurity.
The project, which received funding from NCGH in early 2025, was developed by FOCP’s Community Outreach Coordinator Heather Bierer, who recognized a growing need for accessible, judgment-free food support in the area. Located outside the North Mankato Taylor Library, the new pantry is open 24/7 and available to all — no forms, no red tape.
The pantry was built using a weatherproof design to withstand Minnesota’s seasonal challenges. It is stocked with shelf-stable items such as canned goods, snacks, and boxed items, and is maintained regularly by FOCP volunteers.
FOCP has long focused on addressing youth hunger on weekends and school breaks, but recognizes there is still a gap for families beyond these times. The Little Free Pantry fills that gap — offering nourishment, dignity, and immediate relief for anyone facing food insecurity.
“Thanks to the generosity of No Child Goes Hungry, we are officially up and running!” said Bierer. “As Mother Teresa said, ‘Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.’”
“It’s clear this pantry is more than just a box of food—it’s a beacon of hope for the community,” said NCGH Founder and Director Rev. Kären Rasmussen. “We believe everyone deserves access to food with dignity. We’re proud to support Feeding Our Communities Partners in its mission to make that a reality. Like us, they are working to ensure no child goes hungry.”
