No Child Goes Hungry (NCGH) is pleased to provide a $1000 donation to Kagler Solutions, Inc. (KSi), a community-based non-profit organization located in Tylertown, Mississippi. The funds will be used to build a Little Free Pantry to support those in Tylertown facing food insecurity. Thanks to a partnership with the local restaurant Velma Jean’s Chicken & Waffles, the pantry will be placed outside the restaurant’s takeout window, making it easy for members of the community to give what they can, and take what they need.
We are committed to providing healthy meals and snacks to those in need in our community,” said Dr. Fiesta Kagler, owner and founder of KSi.
Through its Weekend Community Feeding Initiative, since March 21, 2020, KSi in partnership with Velma Jean’s Chicken & Waffles has served over 1000 free meals and counting to local families, hospital staff, and other essential personnel. To further support the needs of the community during the current COVID-19 crisis, Kagler says she is also exploring stocking the pantry with such items as hand sanitizer, wipes, and tissues.
According to Kären Rasmussen, NCGH Founder and Director, the partnership with Kagler Solutions represents NCGH’s first grant issued in the state of Mississippi.
We are proud that our impact has grown significantly over the past few years,” said Rasmussen. “Due to the current COVID-19 crisis and the number of communities in need of hunger relief, we are expanding our reach even further. I am pleased to partner with Kagler Solutions and Velma Jean’s Chicken & Waffles in the creation of a Little Free Pantry to support the community of Tylertown. Every little bit helps to ensure that no child has to go to bed hungry. Let’s feed some kids!”
